What Every Woman Should Know About Her Cycle

Why Your Period Matters?
Your period is a monthly report card on your health. It reflects how your hormones, stress levels, and overall body systems are functioning.
What Is a Healthy Menstrual Cycle?
Cycle Length: 21–35 days
(Count from the first day of heavy bleeding to the day before your next period starts.)
Ovulation: Happens once per cycle, usually ~14 days before your next period.
Luteal Phase: Almost always ~14 days if hormones are balanced.
Follicular Phase: Varies depending on stress, illness, or environmental factors.
What Your Period Should Look Like?
Bleeding Duration: 3–7 days
Blood Loss Total: Around 50 mL (3 tablespoons)
Less than 25 mL = Scanty
More than 80 mL = Heavy
Color: Bright red to brown
Texture: Mostly liquid, no large clots (larger than a quarter = red flag)
At Night: Your flow should slow—no need to get up and change pads during sleep
How to Track Your Cycle?
Track these each month to better understand your body:
Day 1: First day of heavy bleeding
Cycle Length: From one Day 1 to the next
Bleeding Days: Total days of bleeding
Amount Lost: Estimate flow level each day
Cervical Fluid: Is it sticky, creamy, or egg-white?
Symptoms: Cramps, fatigue, acne, mood swings, PMS?
Bonus Insight: It’s Not Just About Your Period
If you’re not ovulating, you’re not making progesterone—a hormone essential for mood, fertility, and stability.
